Sure! So, now that schools are back in session, parents might need some help in the kitchen preparing meals for their kids. Some parents might think it's better to keep the kids out of the kitchen, but the United Way of Miami showed that sometimes even little kids can be a big help when it comes to cooking. They had an event where three and four-year-olds learned about healthy food choices and how to prepare them.
Children learn healthy food
The United Way of Miami is an organization that wants to help people live healthy lives. They partnered with another organization called Tobler Jr, which makes cooking tools for kids. They provided the kids with special utensils and cups that are safe for them to use. They even gave them a cookbook with easy recipes to follow. Of course, the kids had some adult supervision to make sure everything was safe.
At the event, the kids learned how to cut fruits and vegetables using their special knives. They had a lot of fun and some of them even said the food tasted yummy! The United Way is also working with Head Start centers in South Florida to give safe utensils to more kids who want to become chefs in the future.
So, the United Way and Tobler Jr are helping kids learn about healthy food and cooking. They want to empower kids and build their self-esteem by teaching them important skills in the kitchen. Who knows, maybe some of these kids will become famous chefs one day!
